Wounded Warrior Project 8K Fundraiser

26 Aug

On September 16, 2012, Nester Hernandez, former USMC Sergeant, will be running in the Wounded Warrior Project 8K in San Antonio, Texas. He hopes to raise $200o toward this goal and could use some help getting there. Just some quick background. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat “V” device for Valor. Yeah. He’s sort of a big deal!

While deployed in Afghanistan in 2010, “…Sgt. Nester R. Hernandez killed an armed enemy Taliban fighter early in the engagement that was attempting to fire a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) . He was hit and knocked unconscious by the blast of the second 73mm recoilless rocket , but awoke and ignored his own wounds. He aided medical care as well as carried multiple wounded Marines more than 400 meters through IED filled terrain exposing himself to enemy fire.”

So…yeah. Nester is a straight-up hero.

He’s also a damned fine artist. You can see his work here at the Facebook page for Warrior Art By Nester Hernandez. Some really great pieces available!
So. Anywho. If you feel froggy, consider donating to Nester’s fundraising project. Every little bit gets him this much closer to his goal!
